CB Radio
Citizens Band Radio, abbreviated to CB radio has been in operation globally since the 1970s, using the 27MHz (11m) frequency band and popularised in the late seventies and early eighties in the UK after a run of American "Convoy" and related films. Initially it was used illegally in UK, but FM CB was legalised in 1981 and is now classed as "licence exempt" from Ofcom since 2006.
CB is free to use and is most popular with Truckers, and available for both private and business use. 40 channels are available. It is a shared channel service and there is no privacy on channels or exclusivity of channels for business use.
CB radio, by the nature of its frequency band has good local coverage, and on occasions has exceptional long distance coverage (primarily due to activity in the ionosphere which affects HF coverage)
We offer a range of CB radios, CB aerials, CB power supplies, SWR meters and accessories.
