PMR446 Radio
PMR446 is a UHF Licence-free radio service which replaces the SRBR service in UK. PMR446 radios are allowable in all EU countries and some others, giving a flexible and low cost two-way radio for business and leisure activities.
The PMR-446 service is operated with 8 RF channels between 446.00625MHz -446.09375MHz, with regulations permitting a maximum transmit power of 500mW and using a "fixed antenna" to the radio. This in effect limits the range when compared to professional, licenced radios, but generally (subject to local conditions and terrain) gives a range of up to 3-4km. There is a wide range of equipment available from very low cost consumer PMR446 or Leisure PMR446 units to rugged and IP rated Professional PMR446 radios. Most units have CTCSS which cuts interference on these potentially busy channels and the more professional units also have DCS as well as re-chargeable batteries and audio accessories.
Red Radio can offer a wide range of PMR446 radios to suit most applications and budget.
